The longer I play Elden Ring the more I'm finding I don't like it as much as any of the other From Software games. ![]() ![]() But they aren't what I thought the were initially, to get the most out of glintblade phalanx or any cold AoW would still need an investment into int, I can see the logic with the AoWs that duplicate a sorcery spell, and bleed or poison scaling to arc, as far as I remember I think they always have, but I don't see any logic in a cold infused weapon scaling to int as well. Similar thing with the AoWs I thought they were an inspired idea, giving melee build access to some sorcery like glintblade phalanx and giving sorcery builds access to skills like sword dance or storm caller. A couple of From Fanboys are saying it makes sense but it doesn't really. But that seems to be the case with pretty much everything up to now in Elden Ring. I don't remember getting half way through the dark souls games or bloodborne then regretting the attributes I'd invested in because the best weapons I was finding or dropping from enemies didn't work with my build. But I've been surprised at how many of the coolest and arguably most potentially powerful weapons scale better with dex, quite a few of them weapons I wouldn't have thought would be designed for dex builds. I went with strength, faith, vigor and endurance with the minimum in mind to summon a couple of renowned spirit ashes. Faith/Strength or Strength only would have been more appropriate in my opinion.Ī lot of comments about the scaling, and I've been wondering myself. He uses faith and strength and his' weapon should reflect that, but only the grafted dragon reflects his' faith to become a mighty demi-god one day. He wants more strength so he can be stronger, he is not warrior (Uses dex), he is a coward with the belief and faith that he can best anyone and even tried to battle Malenia which is where he had no chance. that this axe that weighs 11.0 requires MORE strength to be wielded AND more dexterity than the greatsword? Also why dexterity in the first place? Godrick himself in the cutscene says "Bring me strength o kindred.". Compare this to Axe of Godrick which requires 34 strength and 22 dexterity. "Though handling it likely requires the wielder to have surpassed the realm of the merely human, it is precisely for this reason the weapon is used to slaughter even inhuman foes." - Greatsword (Colossal Weapon) The greatsword which requires surpassed human strength only takes 31 strength and 12 dexterity and weighs 23.0. The other infamous design often used by viking warriors was known as the 'Dane Axe' which was a long range and devastating weapon most notoriously used by one brave Norseman during the battle of stamford bridge when he single handedly held off an entire english army. The traditional viking axe designs were often characterised by the bladed edge of the axe or 'beard' extending below the butt of the axe head which optimised the weight for more manoeuvrability and also allowed for a longer cutting edge. In modern times the Viking Axe has become a symbol of Norse culture, often being associated with the Vikings skill in battle and reputation as fearsome warriors. Since swords were expensive and much more difficult to forge than axes, this meant that the sword may be commonly used by Norse nobility however the axe was very much the weapon of choice for the everyday man. ![]() What was the significance of the Viking Axe?ĭuring the Viking age the axe was an essential tool which would be used for everyday activities by the inhabitants of Scandinavia.
